Multifactor authentication (MFA) provides an essential layer of security to your Venue data room.

You can select to use the Auth0 Guardian app, which sends push notifications to your phone, or receive a code by text message.

Note: Whatever option you select will be what you will use when you login to Venue going forward. If you decide later that an alternate option would be better suited (ex. Text message or push notification), contact our Venue Client Services team to help you adjust this setting.

Configure Auth0 Guardian

Here are the steps to take to set up the Auth0 Guardian application for MFA.

1. Enter your username and select Next.
2. Enter your password and click Log in.
3. Download the Auth0 Guardian app from the link to the iOS or Android store. Click Continue.
   
4. Scan the QR code with the app.  This links the app with your Venue account and is unique to you and your device. This code is only available for a limited amount of time and is not able to be reused or shared. 
   Note: If you already have another account in the Auth0 Guardian app, select the “+” in the top right corner of the app to add a new account.
5. Save your recovery code. Once you have saved your recovery code, check the box next to I have safely recorded this code. 
   
   This code can be used as a backup in case you cannot use your device for some reason. In the event you need to use your recovery code, you will be provided with a new one.
6. Select Accept on the Authorize App screen. 
   
7. Click Continue. You are directed to the Projects page. If you are a new Venue user, you are directed to the user profile setup screen. 

Configure Google Authenticator or similar

Other authenticator apps can be used and downloaded from the Google Play or Apple app store. Examples of authenticator apps are: Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, Authenticator App, etc.

For users who have Huawei phones and can only access the App Gallery, an option is: Authenticator.

1. Enter your username and select Next.
2. Enter your password and click Log in.
3. Select Try Another Method.
   
4. Select Google Authenticator or similar.
   
5. Scan the QR code with your preferred authentication app. This links the app with your Venue account and is unique to you and your device. This code is only available for a limited amount of time and is not able to be reused or shared.
6. Save your recovery code. Once you have saved your recovery code, check the box next to I have safely recorded this code.

Configure SMS text

Here are the steps to take to set up SMS to receive a text for MFA.

1. Enter your username and select Next.
2. Enter your password and click Log in.
3. Select Try Another Method.
   
4. Select SMS.
   
5. Select the international code and enter your phone number.
6. Enter the six-digit code that is sent via a text message. Click Continue.
7. Save your recovery code. Once you have saved your recovery code, check the box next to I have safely recorded this code. 
   
   This code can be used as a backup in case you cannot use your device for some reason. In the event you need to use your recovery code, you will be provided with a new one.
8. Select Accept on the Authorize App screen. 
   
9. Click Continue. You are directed to the Projects page. If you are a new Venue user, you are directed to the user profile setup screen. 

Use the recovery code

Here are the steps to take to if you need to use the recovery code you previously saved.

1. After you have entered your username and password, select Try Another Method.
2. Select Recovery code.
   
3. Enter your recovery code.
4. Copy your new recovery code.

Remember this device option

When you are authenticating your account after entering your username and password, there is an option to Remember this device for 30 days. This option keeps you authenticated for a single browser session. If you close your browser, you must authenticate again when logging into Venue.
